German Chocolate Pecan Pound Cake: A Decadent and Rich Dessert

  • Author: Ramsay recipes

Description

Few desserts combine the richness of German chocolate and the buttery crunch of toasted pecans like a German Chocolate Pecan Pound Cake. This cake is not only a luxurious treat but also a great way to blend the classic flavors of German chocolate cake with the dense texture of a traditional pound cake. Whether you are preparing it for a special occasion or just treating yourself to a sweet indulgence, this cake is sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup German chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped and toasted

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat Your Oven and Prepare the Bundt Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan. This will ensure that your cake doesn’t stick and comes out beautifully shaped.

Step 2: Cream the Butter and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This process will take about 3 to 5 minutes. This is essential for creating the perfect cake texture.

Step 3: Incorporate the Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract. The mixture may look slightly curdled, but that is normal and expected.

Step 4: Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter and egg mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Starting and ending with the dry ingredients helps maintain the balance of moisture in the batter.

Step 5: Fold in Chocolate and Pecans

Gently fold in the chopped German chocolate and toasted pecans. This step ensures that the chocolate and pecans are evenly distributed throughout the cake, providing flavor and texture in every bite.

Step 6: Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth it out evenly. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
